Daniel G Felix at The Basement
I was lucky enough to go and see my old school friend Daniel at his album launch at The Basement last week. His musical skills definitely are still in fine form (he plays pretty much everything!) since I had the pleasure of playing with him back in the old school days. He had literally over 20 people come and go on stage for each song - it was hard to keep track! His songs are great and the talent of some of those musicians and singers was bloody ridiculous... congrats Dan!
I love love his song transformations...have a listen on his website.
Check him out HERE
Carbon Art Festival
I am going to have to brush up on my cooking skills cos my chef is headed to Melbourne tomorrow to be a guest speaker for Carbon Art Festival. He will be speaking along side the likes of Futura and Lister on the topic of Imagination - which I can personally can vouch for as he ooooozes it with ease.
Go HERE to check out some of his creations.
Have fun B.

ENNIO LEE
I am very pleased and excited to announce a new joint project that I am a part of with Adam Bozzetto. Adam's middle name being Ennio, and mine Lee, it felt only natural to call ourselves:
ENNIO LEE
We have been working pretty hard recently on some exciting music (and the lovely Nina Las Vegas has already given us a spin on JJJ). Stay tuned for music on it's way very soon - save these addresses:

Long nights, long weekend.
After a long day (6+ hours) of vocal recording, I headed out with some music to crash Money Shot (Tim) and Bozzetto's sets at World Bar in Kings Cross.
Good tunes + good company + way too many drinks = 7am finish.
Ouch.

In what turned out to be one of the busiest nights for ODDs & EVENs so far, these three ladies (Katie, Samantha and Shannon) held it down all night! And by all night, I mean, the whole damn time. Their skills, dance moves and track selection was absolutely flawless. So much fun!
The exciting news is that some of the ODDs & EVENs ladies will soon be invited back on a Saturday night to play some tunes to a weekend crowd. Stay tuned for more info... or come down tomorrow night to see the fun in the flesh...
Get your nerd on
The University of Ching-a-lings invites you to procrastinate from your studies and break the midweek work-lull by joining Control Alt DELUXE for their debut DJ set. Humbled by the opportunity to be guest civilian DJs for one night at Odds and Evens, Sally and Intan will put into practice the skills they've honed at houseparties over many years (see for example 'expert mid-shit-song fade-out' and 'covert ipod change-over').
WEDNESDAY 20th APRIL

Thursday...
Yesterday I had a such a crazy busy day - and I was still feeling sick with the flu.
First: I woke up early to meet my brother Andrew (a.k.a. Lance) so he could take some new photos for me. He leaves in 2 weeks to move over to the states so I had to get in quick before he makes it big and is out of my budget! ha...
Next: Rushed home, got changed and went broadway to help out GIDEON SHOES with some shots of some Daimon Downey printed tees. Man that studio had one hell of a tripod!! The Chef and I whipped on and off the t-shirts so I could get out of there in time to make my next gig...
Lastly: Raced up to Pitt street to play in Sportsgirl for the night. However, it turned out there was no need for me to be in such a hurry as their sound system was bust! They asked me to hang around while the soon to arrive sound man tried to fix their system, but after 2 hours waiting (and way too much window shopping) I called it quits and came home to pass out and hop into my warm bed.
That was way too much rushing around to be doing while my nose was running faster than my feet!
Today, I'm writing some new music for Bozzetto, eating muesli and preparing to DJ tonight at a private party. New music... new music... new music... burn burn burn... chill chill chill...
Film teaser
The other week Eirlie and I made a short film about sydney ladies who ride bikes.
We have sent the film off the the Bicycle Film Festival in the hopes of it getting accepted (fingers crossed) so we can't spread the love and show the film as of yet, however we can tease you with some stills from it. Ride on ladies....
CHATTING WITH... ELECTRIC WIRE HUSTLE
I had the pleasure this week of interviewing Myele Manzanza - Drums, production and 1/3rd of the stage presence of Electric Wire Hustle.
If you don't know of them yet, go buy their album RIGHT NOW.
Then buy a ticket to their show at the Gaelic Club this coming Saturday.
Here's what happened when my head full of questions was let loose on my new favourite band...
I was recently introduced to EWH through a friend and immediately fell in love with all your music - since then I pretty much literally haven't taken the album off repeat. What was it that first brought the three of you together? Taay saw me busking in the streets of Wellington a little over 3 years ago. We got in touch and had a lot of the same tastes in music so we jammed together a little bit. Taay then met Mara TK who was singing at a new years eve event in Christchurch, and happened to be moving up to Wellington to study at the NZ School of Music where I was also studying. We got to playing and writing together and the rest is history
Was it an immediate connection between all of you or was it something that built up over time and evolved?
I think it took about 1 - 2 years to really find our stride as a band. We were into alot of the same music and could put something cool together, but we definitely didn't have the immediate musical connection on a deeper level when we first played together. After a while of working through technical kinks and getting to know each other more, we can get a little further beyond the surface of things
Can you describe the general writing process that EWH takes - is it a joint thing from start to finish or do you each come to the table with ideas?
It can go any which way. It may start from us all jamming in a room together. Someone may bring in a loop and we all add and shape layers on it. Listening to other artists like Wayne Shorter or Mala or Dwele or Muse or whoever and getting some inspiration from them that spurs something fresh out of us. Current events and the political climate of the world could come into play. We don't really have a set in stone method for it.
Your album was actually originally released back in 2009 and then re-released internationally recently in 2010, have you been back in the studio since? Indeed. We're getting right into our next album. We're currently in the fun stage of getting together and throwing as many new ideas as possible on the tablebefore we start culling and sculpting them into something solid.
If so, when can we expect to hear some of the new tracks?!
We'll definitely pull a few out of the hat in our Australian shows. We're aiming to release the thing late 2011, but I'm sure new studio bits and pieces will hit your ears in the next month or so.
Speaking of which, what type of studio set up do you work with, any particular music programs or instruments that the band favours? Me n Taay use Logic, Mara uses Reason I think. But we do most of the post production and recording stuff on protools with our engineer Benny Tones. The technology isn't as important as the sounds, ideas and overall music anyway, so I guess we favour various technologies that help us to achieve that.
You have recently been on a world tour - was there a stand out show or city that you played - and why? As far as crowd response, our show in San Francisco felt really good. A very responsive audience I thought. For overall vibe, for me, it would've been a toss up between Benji B's Deviation night in London and the Haven Loft Party in Brooklyn NYC.
Do you find that you write and record with the live show in mind now that you are touring around so much? Not specifically, but now that you mention it...
Having played shows in all parts of the world, is there a favourite song that you look forward to in your set each time you play live? Not really. It changes from show to show. For these ones coming up it'll be road-testing some of these new ideas that I'm looking forward to.
You have played in Australia before (and I am sad to have missed out) but you're out here again in a few weeks. What kind of set up will you be bringing down under for your live shows?
I'll get Benny to email you our tech rider haha. Drums, vocals, bass, gat, keys, loops, 10,000 DI's. Hopefully we'll have some very special guests joining us in Sydney but I wont name names as I don't wanna jinx it yet.
It's hard for me to pick as I love so many of your tracks, but one of my favourite has to be TOM BOY as the chorus just gets me every time. Is there a true story behind this particular track? I think there is. You'll have to ask Mara though. Probably better to get your own interpretations from these things anyway :)
If you had to put on a song or two right now to be the soundtrack to your day so far, what would we be hearing? Wayne Shorter - "Zero Gravity" and Sa-Ra Creative Partners - "Jumbo"
Thank you so much for taking the time to talk to me. I really cannot wait to see you guys play out here this Saturday. All the best with the shows. Last of all, whats next for EWH for the rest of 2011 and dare I say 2012?
Thanks. 2nd EWH album towards the end of the year. Dope solo projects coming from all of us over the next year or so as well. The band will be relocating over to Europe for the northern hemisphere summer for a string of festival and club dates as well as more writing and recording. Big tings indeed.

Heeeaaaps heaaps DECENT
Producer extraordinaire Adam Bozzetto put me in touch with the folk who run the amazing Heaps Decent. If you don't already know, Heaps Decent was established in 2007 by Sydney Djs Nina Agzarian (JJJ - Nina Las Vegas) and Andrew Levins along with American DJ and Producer Diplo. It's an initiative commited to finding and nuturing the creativity of underpriviledged and indigenous young people and emerging artists by providing resources and opportunities. They run workshops all over, ranging from the remote community of Maningrida and the Riverina Juvenile Justice Centre in Wagga Wagga NSW to Redfern in the big smoke of Sydney.
Back to my day today, being School Holidays (and me being unable to sit still for a minute) I went down to check out Levins and Bozzetto running a School Holidays session in the Redfern Community Centre. Hoping I would get to work on my own stuff with Bozzetto afterwards, I just so happened to have my handy laptop with me. So when new recruit Adrian came in with some lyrics and needed someone to help start a beat - I grabbed my laptop and raised my hand.
It was so much fun to sit down and work with someone on their own music, as opposed to the other way around (which is usually myself sitting down with a producer). All the kids there were really enthusiastic and the tracks were sounding... pardon the pun... heaps decent!
Really can't wait to go back next Monday and get my hands into more Heaps Decent Projects. It's so amazing to see that young artists and aussies in the music industry are giving back and making stuff happen. Mega props to all at Heaps Decent and the kids that come down and get involved.
Peace and Music!
