Don't forget...
Leave out some carrots, cookies and milk for the big fat man and his helpers tonight.
Or if you prefer, some craisons and a green tea!
CURVY FINALS
TONIGHT - the final live art battles @ The Galeries, battles start at 6pm at The Galeries, 500 George Street. I'll be there right smack bang in the middle watching some interesting art works come to life.

And the second will feature Melody Li vs Andrew Clark:
DOWN WITH SCROOGE
It's reached that time of year again when we all get together, eat loads of food, drink way too much and have time off. We also spend way too much money on gifts for friends and family.
I hope though, that amongst all the presents we are giving our friends and family, we can all take some time (and money) to give something extra back, somehow...
Whether it be a coffee and sandwich for the homeless guy who lives at the end of your street (in my case that guy's name is Peter!) or to actually have a conversation with your poor cab driver who has been sitting dealing with rude customers all day, and then even as small a gift as a smile or a 'have a good day' to your bus driver.
You can put Christmas and the silly season down for many reasons, but one that you certainly cannot, is the spirit that it brings out within people.
SHINE ON HAPPY SOULS
Recording the sweet sounds of youth...
Spent sunday afternoon recording the sounds of 6 young ladies... very fun.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE working with young kids so much.
Can't wait to hear the finished product. They did really well and I feel proud of them all :)
I don't think I can say much else about it yet, but when I can - I'll be sure to post it up.

WHAT DO YOU DO?
By day I work for Dinosaur Designs. By night I am a jeweller with my own label babyanything.
HOW DID YOU FIRST GET INTO YOUR FIELD?
I went to an interview for Art School with my heart set on photography. I left the interview convinced that jewellery was the right path for me.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE PIECE OF JEWELLERY THAT YOU OWN - EITHER SELF MADE OR BOUGHT?
SHHHHhhhhhiiiiiiiitttttttt!!!!! This question is hell! It's like asking a DJ what their favourite song is!
So my favourite at the moment is my newest piece for babyanything, a six headed skull bangle in sterling silver.
WHAT'S THE STRANGEST THING YOU HAVE EVER DONE AS PART OF YOUR WORK?
Well the shoot for my look book had some strange incestuous circumstances. The model is one of my best friends Shannon and the photographer was her (recently) ex-boyfriend Brent, and the hand going down Shannon's pants is that of Luke, Brent's best friend. Phew!
THE PHONE RINGS AND IT'S KATE MOSS ON THE LINE ASKING YOU TO TAKE HER OUT AROUND SYDNEY FOR A DAY. WHERE WOULD YOU GO?
First I'd take her to my studio and make her pose in my jewellery, then I'd take her to Bourke St Bakery for treats, followed by a trip to Surry Hills markets and a quick dip at Neilson Park before getting all trashed up and dancing the night away at Halfway Crooks!
WHAT OTHER DESIGNERS (BE IT FASHION OR ACCESSORIES) INSPIRE YOU?
Julia Deville is a Melbourne jeweller who blows my mind. She has a skull ring that I would have as my wedding ring, and I always said I would make my own.
For shoes and bags I'm hot for the stuff I have just collaborated with for new label Hunter.
IF YOU COULD MAKE ANY PEICE OF JEWELLERY RIGHT NOW OUT OF ANY MATERIAL, WHAT WOULD YOU MAKE?
A tiara with a skull head at the peak, flanked by two large roses, made out of silver and Swarovski crystals.
IF YOU HAD TO PUT ON YOUR IPOD RIGHT NOW - WHAT WOULD YOU PLAY?
The Breakfast Club Soundtrack. I have an unhealthy obsession with the character John Bender.
WHAT'SYOUR FAVOURITE NAIL POLISH COLOUR?
I experiment with pastels, but it's always back to black.
SUMMER 2011, DESCRIBE YOUR ULTIMATE WAY TO SPEND THE DAY?
Breakfast with the family, then a lazy day on North Bondi Hill with all the girls, followed by a night of non-stop dancing and giggles with the boys at Good God Small Club.
WHAT ARE YOU DRINKING RIGHT NOW?
Chocolate Milk.. ha ha
WHATS FOR DINNER?
Margarita Pizza from Mad Pizza in Darlinghurst... Mmmmmm
WHAT SPICE GIRL WOULD YOU BE?
Shit, I'm a little bit of all of them. When I was little I always wanted to be sporty!
WATER… STILL OR SPARKLING?
Sparkling!!! There is no comparison. I am broke due to all the Perrier I consume.
BLACK OR WHITE?
Both.
STRAWBERRY OR CHOCOLATE?
CHOCOLATE!!!!!!!!
HOT OR COLD?
Hot weather, cold beers.
BRITNEY OR GAGA?
Britney! Remember crossroads? That film is a classic ha
SUMMER OR WINTER?
Summer, summer, summer!!!

Remember the days of the old school yard?
Not so long ago, I ran a vocal/movement workshop at CUmberland Highscool for some of the students. Well, last week the head Music Teacher from the school (the lovely Mr Ropa) gave me a call asking if I would come and be their Graduation and Awards Ceremony gues speaker.
I was excited + honoured + nervous all at once!
I said yes straight away, but then freaked out a little when I realised I was faced with the task of writing an inspiring speech that wouldn't send everyone to sleep! In the end I actually found the speech writing incredibly natural and easy and I have to say I think it went down really well.
The students seemed to take most of it in (and stayed entertained) and I had quite a few teachers and parents all come up and comment. Besides being the guest speaker, I also had to present some awards to students who excelled in the creative arts department - then Mr Ropa got me to sing some songs with the school band which was SOOO much fun! We did Blondie "Call Me", Stevie Wonder "Signed Sealed Delivered" and Tina Turner "Proud Mary".
It was such a nice experience and really lovely to see so many young kids out there excited about life and what awaits them. Hopefully I can have the opportunity to work with them in some music/vocal workshops sometime next year.

Curvy went LIVE!!
Thursday night saw Curvy go LIVE as part of a three week series. These photos below are courtesy of the lovely Sylve Colless (who will also be featured alongside myself in the Galeries Summer 2011 Campaign). You can check out more on the GALERIES blog.
LE SISTER @ CURVY LIVE
Kicking off Thursday the 9th of December at 6pm, I'll be spinning some tunes at what is to be a really exciting event. Represented by Bridge Stehli and Melbourne’s graf queen Deb, the CURVY crew will pair up against some of Sydney’s most defiant artists and illustrators in a live two hour art battle demo.
On the two Thursday nights that follow, the battle canvas will be thrown open to the public! Aspiring and underground art impresarios will be given the chance to step up and flex their creative muscles for the chance to showcase their work at one of the top Sydney art galleries & a public showing at Lane 4 (a new artist laneway project @ The Galeries).
Dates:
Dec. 9th, 2010
Dec. 16th, 2010
Dec. 23rd, 2010
Times: 6 – 8pm
Each week there will be 2 battles with each artist armed only with black felt tip markers. Throughout the battle period, guests, patrons, consumers and art lovers alike can affect the outcome by voting on the night as they watch the artists go head-to-head for 60 minutes.
At the end of the two-week competition, the 8 artworks created will also be posted onto the Galeries Facebook Page where the online community will have until January 9th, 2011 to vote for the overall battle winner.
Are you magic with a marker?
Then enter the battles. You don’t have to be a chick, any can enter, just submit a pic/video of your work on the Galeries Facebook page to be considered at http://www.facebook.com/thegaleries
What’s on offer for the winner?
The grand final winner of the Curvy Live battles will get a chance to showcase their work at one of the top Sydney art galleries & a public showing at Lane 4 (a new artist laneway project @ The Galeries).
Why vote?
Because you love art, and everyone who votes goes into the running to win a free copy of the limited edition CURVY 2011 book!
Get me some FAIR GROUND...
I was just shown the new collection by FAIRGROUND and I am a tad obsessed with this little playsuit/shorts thing... It's an amazing print and kind of backless - or has a cut out back.
Anyway I just did some googling (and it's not up on their site yet so I can't show a picture or anything) but I want it! I want it bad!
Amidst my googling I then also found out that FAIRGROUND has been seen on so many singers around the globe! I had always wondered where SIA got her outfit from on her cover!
Check these out below...

Lianne Mesiti - MAKEUP ARTIST OF MY DREAMS
I have had the pleasure of watching Lianne create some amazing makeup's in the past, so it was my pleasure to be able to feature her (and her work!) this week.
You can check out some more of her work on her website DREAM REFLECTION

WHAT DO YOU DO?
Freelance makeup and hair artist. Trainer - Diploma of Specialist Makeup Services. Fashion/advertising/tv/events/bridal.
HOW DID YOU FIRST GET INTO YOUR FIELD?
Firstly as an assistant in a hair salon that did both hair and makeup/beauty services. Then onto retail cosmetics where I was involved in creative events such as Mercedes Fashion Week and Australia's Next Top Model. Eventually going out on my own to work for myself which exposed my career to many interesting opportunities...
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE AND LEAST FAVOURITE PRODUCT OR BRAND TO USE?
I am really loving NARS and MAC products at the moment! NARS-pressed powders are just beautifully silky and MAC-paint pots are an essential key to any look I create. I think every brand has a great key product in their range, so I don't really have a 'least' favourite brand as such. Though I am not a fan of the plastic full sets of lashes that are floating around, they are hard to apply and can look terribly fake!
WHAT ARE THE BIG MAKEUP DO'S AND DON'TS FOR YOU?
DO's - Prepare the skin first ( I love MAC FIX+ SPRAY) and I always do eyes first before the foundation, ensures you can do a thorough clean up underneath before smudging the foundation into it. Brushing eyebrows and curling lashes make a huge difference that most people forget to do themselves. Invest in good brushes.....you can use cheap makeup and get a great result with the right tools.
DONT's - leave makeup on overnight, it clogs the skin and prevents it from breathing/healing properly. Choose a light to medium coverage foundation, NOT a heavy 12hour long wear one! You can always add concealer where you need it after applying a light foundation, I very rarely meet someone that needs full coverage on the entire face... Don't forget that the makeup will only be as good as the canvas it is laid on, so get into a good basic skin care routine to keep looking young and fresh!
WHAT'S THE STRANGEST THING YOU HAVE EVER DONE AS PART OF YOUR WORK?
I didn't actually get to DO THIS, but I did get a request (which I gladly refused!) I got a call from a man who had got my number from another makeup colleague of mine requesting an appointment for hair and makeup application at a hotel room where he was staying with his girlfriend (I thought-how sweet he's organising some pampering for her!). So I informed him that yes I am a mobile service and I quite often visit clients in hotel rooms before they go to events etc. So then proceeded to check the date and what his girlfriend had in mind in terms of what look she would require on the night so I knew what products to bring etc. The man corrected me and mentioned that the hair and makeup service was actually for HIM and not his girlfriend and asked if I was capable of making him look like a woman as he wanted to surprise his girlfriend with his new makeover for the night. Um, uh oh! My intuition freaked a little bit inside and I decided I didn't want to put myself in a compromising situation with this unusual request.... I politely told him that I was mistaken and that I actually was not available that evening and thanked him for his call...... Being a mobile service as a makeup/hair artist, we go into strangers homes/hotels/locations constantly so it becomes second nature and no cause for alarm. But then something like that comes along and reminds me to be very cautious as you never know who is going to be in there and what there intentions are. Needless to say, I inform my husband of where I am going for every job now!!
THE OSCARS ARE COMING UP AND YOU'RE TOLD YOU GET FIRST PICK OF ANYONE TO DO THEIR MAKEUP - WHO WOULD BE YOUR PICK RIGHT NOW?
As a prediction for 2011......Natalie Portman-she is naturally beautiful and a super talented actress. Amazing bone structure and skin. I imagine she would be a delight to work with!
IF YOU HAD TO PUT ON YOUR IPOD RIGHT NOW - WHAT WOULD YOU PLAY?
Sia - loving her right now!
WHAT'S YOUR FAVOURITE NAIL POLISH COLOUR?
Miss Frou Frou's AQUA from VALONZ
SUMMER 2011, DESCRIBE YOUR ULTIMATE WAY TO SPEND THE DAY?
So far my best summer day in 2010 was in Coff's Harbour at an amazing resort (for a friends wedding) hanging out with a group of fun easy going people I had just met. Love those pleasant surprises!
WHAT ARE YOU DRINKING RIGHT NOW?
Lemon, lime and bitters - so refreshing for this humid weather.
WHATS FOR DINNER?
Tandoori chicken wrap, chips and salad
WHAT SPICE GIRL WOULD YOU BE?
For a friends birthday when I was about 16, we all dressed up as the Spice Girls (they were the FAD) and I was Baby Spice. Seems to fit for me.....:)
WATER… STILL OR SPARKLING?
Still - don't do sparkling!
BLACK OR WHITE?
Depends on what for.....I have more black in my wardrobe so I'm going with black:)
STRAWBERRY OR CHOCOLATE?
Chocolate! Is there any other?
HOT OR COLD?
Hot.....I was born in London but cant stand the cold!
BRITNEY OR GAGA?
Gaga.....talk about makeup:)
SUMMER OR WINTER?
Summer. Always.
DAIMON DOWNEY in my hood
I live in a fairly crazy part of town - but last night it was extra busy as the fashion and art world's elite spilled onto the streets; all in the name of Daimon Downey's latest Art exhibition.
I actually really liked his stuff - it was almost like new-age Ken Done for the 'IT' crowd. The show had everything from sculptures, to $150 'nose bag' printed plates, to beautifully high glossed paintings.
There was an endless supply of booze ("what?" I hear you say, "an art exhibition where the booze doesn't run out?!") and there was also plenty of tasty pizza to go around (no vegetarian though).
The night ended with a request from Damon for someone to put on some 'hip hop and disco' - so my handy ipod and I came to the rescue once again with some Biggie and Diana Ross!!
