This was up on PedestrianWo Wo Wo!
What a funny last few days I have had.
Firstly, my dad was finally back from his trip around Australia in a van, so I decided to go up to the mountains and visit him. Admittedly, I am not usually the biggest public transport user or fan these days (as I live walking distance from everything in the city and anywhere else I need to go for gigs I drive) however after the 2 hour train ride up to Blackheath - I found myself mesmerized and relaxed by the sound of the tracks and the setting sun as my view.
I was totally in love with the whole train catching process. Being forced to sit still and do nothing is something that somehow sits well with me. I did a bit of writing, a bit of reading, then I put on old Sheryl Crow and FIona Apple and tuned the fuck out from the world.
Dad and I put together an updated session singing demo (which includes the new channel 7 show Toybox which is on now - weekdays 3:30pm I think). I snuggled up to my old dog Freddy and felt very much spoilt by the unconditional love that animals show.
Now back in syd, I djed tonight at a party through my friend Caroline (thebeautypunk.blogspot.com). It was 13yr old Max's bday party! What a bizarre and fun night it turned out to be! I don't know what is harder;
- playing to a crowd of drunk idiots spilling beer everywhere in a club
Or
- playing to a crowd of 13yr old boys and girls. No booze involved, but plenty of mini skirts and teenage attitude.
I'm still yet to decide.
I am now off to bed after arriving home to a customized pizza made just for me :)
Sleepy and happy.
Night night.

The Galleries Summer 10/11 Shoot
I got to be a part of the new Galleries Summer 10/11 Campaign Shoot!
I had the pleasure of representing Alpha60, along with accessories from other labels. I am actually obsessed with the Alpha60 dress now and really want it! I have a feeling that once the photos are made all slick and pretty, the dress will look beautiful and sell out in the stores... so if you like it you should go check it out now.
There were so many amazing people involved - hair, makeup, styling and the photographer. Plus as I already knew, the folk at The Shop (lead by Michael) who do all the PR and events for the Galleries are rad - so all in all it was a great shoot. My favourite part was getting pretty much a full body massage while the makeup assistant rubbed hair product into my hair and moisturizer/foundation into my pasty legs. I could happily be pampered like that every day!
MY LOOK
MAKEUP - mostly by MAC. smokey eyes, pinky/purple lips
DRESS - Alpha60
SHOES - Nu + Nan
BAG - Mooks
BRACELET - Alpha60
Watch, Scarf, Silver bracelet I didn't catch where they were from.
Necklace was my own.

TOTAL ECLIPSE OF THE HEART
So it turns out that I probably spent way too much time on the dance floor, and so I didn't actually take many good pictures. Here is one of the dinner table drawings pre-Shamless and two lovely ladies. As you can see - we were all in creative moods.
There is a video of my performance but I need to load it up... will do that soon.
There was a snow machine and everything!!
GENIUS NIGHT!

Shamless!
I just got home from an unexpected super fun night. I was asked to sing a big power ballad at Shamless (same crew from Gaybash) held at Iguana Bar in Kings Cross.
So... I sang:
'Total Eclipse Of the Heart'
The big, slow, dramatic version.
I'll write more tomorrow when I catch up on much needed sleep.
So. Fun.

Netball fool!
Some of my lady friends and I have started a social netball team. I didn't quite know what I was getting myself into... hey, I didn't even own running shoes!
We all turned up the first week full of nervous energy (and quietly shitting ourselves not only at the fear of being unfit, but of also having no recollection of the rules of the game!)
Ten minutes into the first game and we were all completely exhausted - but loving it. The rules came running straight back and so did the "obstruction, contact and stepping"!
I have to say though, I cannot believe at times how competitive and bitchy the other teams can get. We are literally just there to have fun, run around, socialise and exercise. However it seems it is a matter of life and death for some players on the teams we have played so far. I am amazed there aren't more injuries - touch wood.
Tomorrow I am definitely binging oranges for half time. It's game on for sure. Third week lucky - we may actually win this time...

My turn in the kitchen
These days I rarely get time in the kitchen and it is often hard to compete with some of the creative (and at times very oddly inventive) food combinations that are whipped up and thrown on my plate. Tonight however, I hit the stove and after a good suggestion of my friend Alissa's; I made use of my recently purchased cupcake holders to create little vege pastry things.
Sooo easy, and sooo yummy.
I took a before shot as I wasn't sure they were going to turn out looking nice enough for an after shot. Turns out they did!

KP's vege + puff pastry recipe:
You'll need - carrots, pumpkin, zucchini, chilli, onion, sundried tomatos, cubed fetta, puff pastry and a cupcake tin.
- Boil some pumpkin and carrot till they're soft enough to poke a knife in easily
- At the same time, lightly chop up ad fry some onion, chilli and zucchini or whatever other veges you may have lying around)
- Let both mixtures cool and mix in a big bowl along with some sun dried tomato, cubed fetta and plenty of salt and pepper.
- Cut some puff pastry sheets into squares and place into a greased up cupcake try
- Set the oven for standard 180 and cook for 20-25 mins
Serve hot and keep any left overs for lunch tomorrow.
Yuss!
October 14th
I just read that October 14th will see the launch of the new children's television show Toybox, in which I play the (singing) voice of the lead female character.
I finished recording my parts a while back, and at that stage had only seen a few short segments of the visuals. I'm looking forward to seeing it all come together. Once again my lack of tv will mean I'll have to watch it on YouTube...
Unless someone can tape it for me??!!

Vego-isn't
Well, after only saying last week that vegetarians get the better deal at all the function/event/wedding gigs I do - I now have to eat my words.
We played another Wedding, this time in the mountains, and it was all just finger food/cocktail style. But there were only 3 vegetarian options... 1 was a mini bruschetta, another consisted of deep fried spring rolls (not the best to eat before singing) and the last was carrot sticks and dips! :(
I did mange to eat more than enough and I also tucked in to the Belgium chocolate wedding cake and the mini fortune cookies. Oh, and the bride and groom did their bridal waltz to "Nothing Else Matters"... yep, Metallica!! Amazing.

New Camera!
I got a new camera (finally!) so now I can actually start posting nice pictures again, instead of crappy ones off my phone...
